New Virtual Reward cache submitted: Signs of Lekwungen

Just submitted our Virtual Rewards 3.0 cache and if approved it will be a dandy! Seven locations (but you only have to visit two), tons of history about the Lekwungen peoples who were the first human occupants of this land, and their early relationship with the British colonists who arrived in the 19th century.

You’ll be looking for these huge bronze spindle whorl sculptures. A spindle whorl was a device used by Coast Salish women to spin wool and was considered the foundation of a Coast Salish family. Of course, the real thing was much smaller.

A greatly enlarged bronze sculpture of a spindle whorl. Each marker has one of these monuments. Each one has a unique design. I’d tell you who designed them but that’s an answer to one of the virtual questions!

Keeping my fingers crossed that it will be published as-submitted soon!
